Linda Jackson

In May and June 2008 with RADF funding we were able to offer two week-end workshops run by renowned fashion artist Linda Jackson. Participants had the chance to see Linda's archival collection of fashion art garments. This unique collection of original fabrics and garments was inspirational with the hands on experience and chance to model the fashions a one of a kind opportunity.

In the mid 1970's Linda Jackson had a unique Australian vision that found inspiration in Australia's cultural, natural landscape and the art of Indigenous Australians. Together with business partner Jenny Kee a collection of important designers that included clothing, textiles and original artwork was born.

Linda is one of Australia's most significant designer-makers and a trail-blazer in Australian fashion.

She has a collection in the Powerhouse Museum.

Recently she has been living in Port Douglas and is involved with exhibiting in Cairns with costumes, paintings and textiles inspired by the landscape and the land and indigenous people from the local communities.

Most recently Linda could be found backstage at Therese Rawsthorne RAFW 2008 for Australian Fashion Week (click link for interview). Designers today still draw inspiration from Linda's fashion archive.
