Cooktown Art Festival

In 2006 our President Betty Clarke envisaged a local Art Festival here in Cooktown. She saw such an event as a way to promote the arts in Cooktown and surrounds.

After months of struggle and foot-work to generate interest she gained the support of artists, the local community and Cook Shire Council. With public backing and more hard work a submission was put together and was successful in obtaining Queensland Events funding to help promote and run the inaugural Cooktown Art Festival in 2007.

As the festival feedback was very positive this will now be a biennial event and is to be held again in 2009.
