Cooktown Creative Arts Association
Located at the Old Cooktown Railway Station in Charlotte Street (opposite the West Coast Hotel) the Cooktown Creative Arts Association is a show case for local artists and craft people.

Guurrbi Tours With Willie Gordon
Willie Gordon, the traditional story-teller of the Nugal-warra clan, takes guests to his ancestral rock art sites, set high in the hills above Hope Vale, outside Cooktown. Here he shares the stories behind the art, and explains how the paintings speak of the essence of life and the lores of his people.
The Vera Scarth-Johnson Gallery
The gallery features 32 botanical illustrations by the world-renowned illustrator Vera Scarth-Johnson . Wikipedia also has Vera's story. The illustrations are Drawn from a collection of 160, they are changed every two months.
The gallery is located in Cooktown Botanic Gardens Finch Bay Road, PO Box 75, Cooktown, 4895 at Natures Powerhouse Visitor Information Centre. For more details about any of the events:

Hopevale Arts & Cultural Centre
The HopeVale Arts & Cultural Centre is at the heart of Guguu Yimithirr culture and actively involves Aboriginal people of all ages in passing on the cultural traditions and promoting the use and teaching of the Guguu Yimithirr language, which is alive and spoken daily by many local people. The Centre offers a space to learn ancient skills, such as gathering and weaving of local fibres and dyeing them with bush dyes, and modern skills such as printing, etching and contemporary art techniques.
The long and strong tradition of Aboriginal Artists born of this country and of the Guguu Yimithirr, include Ben McGreen, John Allums, Godfrey Gordon, Ken Walsh, Tulo Gordon, Sid McIvor, Walter Jack and Roy McIvor. With many talented, younger artists emerging, HopeVale envisions a bright future for it’s culture.
Visitors are welcome to visit the Centre weekdays,
between the hours of 9am and 4.30pm, at Flierl Street, HopeVale.

Black Cockatoo Gallery
Stunning wildlife art, by world renowned artist Ross Franzi and friends, is showcased in the Black Cockatoo Gallery. Having been inspired by the majestic beauty and the unique eco–system of the Bloomfield region, Ross hand built his wildlife art gallery and café within twenty–five lush acres of the Bloomfield paradise.
To view a selection of his most coveted work you can visit the gallery located just off the Bloomfield track, 12 km's north of Wujal Wujal.

The Cairns Visual Arts Association consists of a network of visual arts organisation's and practicing artists in the Cairns Region.
"We are dedicated to the development of visual art and artists in the region and are active in the promotion of exhibitions, fostering awareness of the visual arts and the facilitation of arts events. This includes the provision of communication, liaison, referral and coordination services between member groups, government agencies and other interest parties. A principle concern is to raise issues relating to the development of visual arts in the region in an open and frank manner - to stimulate public debate and advance the status of visual arts and artists."
